has been cut off; v., to cut off the twigs and small branches
from a tree, of Celtic origin; cf. Gael. snaigh, snaidh, to
cut down, to prune, to sharpen, p. p. snaighte, snaidhte, cut
off, lopped, Ir. snaigh a hewing, cutting.]
