Fairy shrimp (Zo["o]l.), a European fresh-water phyllopod crustacean (Chirocephalus diaphanus); -- so called from its delicate colors, transparency, and graceful motions. The name is sometimes applied to similar American species. Fairy stone (Paleon.), an echinite.
