bark of which yields the alkaloid bebeerine, and the wood of

An alkaloid got from the bark of the bebeeru, or green heart
of Guiana (Nectandra Rodi[oe]i). It is a tonic,
antiperiodic, and febrifuge, and is used in medicine as a
