Basilarchia or Limenitis astyanax Ursula Ur"su*la, n. (Zo["o]l.)
A beautiful North American butterfly (Basilarchia, or
Limenitis, astyanax). Its wings are nearly black with red
and blue spots and blotches. Called also red-spotted
purple.

where it was first found.] (Min.)
An iron-black or steel-gray mineral, consisting chiefly of
the oxides of iron and titanium. It is commonly massive, but
occurs also in rhombohedral crystals. Called also titanic
iron ore, and ilmenite.
