Douglas spruce Spruce Spruce, n. [OE. Spruce or Pruse, Prussia, Prussian. So
named because it was first known as a native of Prussia, or
because its sprouts were used for making, spruce beer. Cf.

Norway spruce (P. excelsa), and the white and black
spruces of America (P. alba and P. nigra), besides
several others in the far Northwest. See Picea.

Micromeria Douglasii Yerba Yer"ba, n. [Sp.] (Bot.)
An herb; a plant.
Note: This word is much used in compound names of plants in
Spanish; as, yerba buena [Sp., a good herb], a name
applied in Spain to several kinds of mint (Mentha
sativa, viridis, etc.), but in California
universally applied to a common, sweet-scented labiate
plant (Micromeria Douglasii).

(Anemopsis Californica) with a pungent, aromatic
