Radiata
Radiata Ra`di*a"ta, n. pl. [NL., fr. radiatus, p. p. See Radiate.] (Zo["o]l.) An extensive artificial group of invertebrates, having all the parts arranged radially around the vertical axis of the body, and the various organs repeated symmetrically in each ray or spheromere. Note: It includes the c[oe]lenterates and the echinoderms. Formerly, the group was supposed to be a natural one, and was considered one of the grand divisions of the animal kingdom.

Butterfly ray, a short-tailed American sting ray (Pteroplatea Maclura), having very broad pectoral fins. Devil ray. See Sea Devil. Eagle ray, any large ray of the family Myliobatid[ae], or [AE]tobatid[ae]. The common European species (Myliobatis aquila) is called also whip ray, and miller. Electric ray, or Cramp ray, a torpedo. Starry ray, a common European skate (Raia radiata). Sting ray, any one of numerous species of rays of the family Trygonid[ae] having one or more large, sharp, barbed dorsal spines on the whiplike tail. Called also stingaree.

Zona radiata [NL.] (Biol.), a radiately striated membrane situated next the yolk of an ovum, or separated from it by a very delicate membrane only.
