One who is employed by the owner or seller of goods sold at suction to bid up the price; a by-bidder. --Bouvier. 3. (Zo["o]l.) (a) Any plectognath fish which inflates its body, as the species of Tetrodon and Diodon; -- called also blower, puff-fish, swellfish, and globefish.

A blowing out or excessive discharge of gas from a hole or fissure in a mine. 4. The whale; -- so called by seamen, from the circumstance of its spouting up a column of water. 5. (Zo["o]l.) A small fish of the Atlantic coast (Tetrodon turgidus); the puffer. 6. A braggart, or loud talker. [Slang] --Bartlett.
