Halesia Ha*le"si*a, n. [NL.] (Bot.) A genus of American shrubs containing several species, called snowdrop trees, or silver-bell trees. They have showy, white flowers, drooping on slender pedicels.

They have the tail and more or less of the upper parts silvery white. The most common species (E. nychtemerus) is native of China. Silver plate, domestic utensils made of silver.
